The National Motor Freight Traffic Association has launched a free online reporting system enabling transportation companies to anonymously submit information about freight fraud, cargo theft and cybersecurity breaches. The portal accepts submissions from carriers, brokers, third-party logistics providers and shippers. Organizations can report fictitious pickups, identity fraud, ransomware attacks, phishing campaigns, network intrusions and cargo theft through the confidential channel. Submitted data will be analyzed and shared among participating members to identify emerging attack patterns. The initiative addresses a significant gap in threat intelligence sharing. Criminal organizations increasingly adapt tactics faster than traditional reporting mechanisms can accommodate. Joe Ohr, NMFTA's chief operations and technical officer, emphasized that collaborative information sharing amplifies defensive capabilities across the sector. The move comes as transportation companies face mounting pressure from sophisticated fraud schemes exploiting limited cross-industry visibility.
