The National Motor Freight Traffic Association's anonymous threat-sharing portal launched in May and is now fully operational, following industry demand for coordinated defense against cyberattacks. Ben Wilkens, NMFTA's cybersecurity director, said the portal allows carriers to report breach attempts and successful attacks without revealing their identities. The platform collects tactics, techniques, procedures and indicators of compromise—including file hashes and IP addresses—to help the industry defend against repeated attack patterns. "Bad actors use the same playbook on multiple carriers," Wilkens noted. The vetting process screens submissions before publication, ensuring quality threat intelligence reaches all participants. NMFTA leadership wants increased participation from trucking companies. They believe shared threat data will blunt attackers' ability to exploit similar vulnerabilities across the industry.
