Northern Air Cargo Takes Delivery of Second 737-800F to Expand Alaska Operations

Northern Air Cargo received its second Boeing 737-800 freighter in Anchorage last week, expanding its cargo network across Alaska. The aircraft, which is more than 22 years old and leased from World Star Aviation, provides approximately 18 tonnes of cargo capacity. The carrier greeted the arrival with a water cannon salute at its Anchorage base. The expansion will enable the airline to better serve customer demand and increase operational flexibility throughout the region. Northern Air Cargo operates a mixed fleet of 737 variants including another 737-800F, a 737-400F, and a 737-300F. The addition comes as the airline navigates leadership changes, with Mark Lester recently appointed as president and chief executive. The carrier launched a direct Seattle-Tacoma to Anchorage cargo route in October 2025, reflecting growing demand on the Alaska corridor.
