The Port of Oakland handled 184,492 TEUs in April, down from 198,667 TEUs in March as vessel arrivals fell to 80 from 86. Outbound cargo dominated the month, with exports of 92,687 TEUs surpassing imports of 91,805 TEUs. However, loaded imports of 78,822 TEUs exceeded loaded exports of 63,910 TEUs. April volumes declined 5% year-over-year, reflecting reduced vessel calls and carrier scheduling adjustments. Year-to-date throughput reached 742,351 TEUs through April, marking a 5% decrease. Maritime Director Bryan Brandes attributed Oakland's stability to its diverse cargo portfolio, noting the port's strength in agricultural exports and Northern California commerce. Despite fewer vessel calls, the facility achieved resilience through larger vessel exchanges and increased cargo per call.
