Persistent ocean congestion and unclear tariff policies could drive significant cargo shifts to air transport during Q4 peak season, according to Dimerco Express Group. The Taiwanese forwarder cited supply chain disruptions at sea combined with stronger-than-expected demand, which have extended the traditional peak into a prolonged congestion period. China-US shipments held back by tariff uncertainty could release once policy direction becomes clear. Shippers forced to choose air transport due to tight timelines will further strain air capacity. Demand from semiconductors, AI servers and year-end retail activity continues to tighten capacity across Northeast Asian markets. Taiwan reports strong outbound pressure on US and intra-Asia lanes, while South Korea faces seasonal constraints around Chuseok. Southeast Asia, India and Australia also report tight air capacity to the US from most origins.
