Ontario Midland Railroad has received an $11.2 million federal grant to rehabilitate approximately 10 miles of deteriorating track in Wayne County, New York, bolstering freight infrastructure serving agricultural and manufacturing operations across the region.

The Wayne County Mainline Safety and Reliability Project will replace nine miles of rail, resurface eight grade crossings and replace seven turnouts while removing three others. Work includes ballast placement, tamping and track surfacing.

Funding flows through the Federal Railroad Administration's Consolidated Rail Infrastructure and Safety Improvements program. The investment targets aging infrastructure modernization to improve freight transportation efficiency and spur economic development.

Ontario Midland, operating since 1979, provides local freight service across Wayne and Monroe counties, including the eastern Rochester metropolitan area, and interchanges with CSX at Newark.
