PanStar's Arctic Debut Draws Strong Shipper Interest

South Korean exporters are booking cargo aggressively for PanStar Line's inaugural Northern Sea Route container service scheduled for August 22 from Busan to Rotterdam, Hamburg, and Gdansk. The 2,800-teu vessel will carry the shipments. The carrier held a briefing Monday with major logistics players including CJ Logistics, LX Pantos, Hyundai Glovis, Taewoong Logistics, and Intergis to address operational details. Arctic temperatures averaging 1-8 degrees Celsius during transit will preserve cargo quality, company officials told attendees. Booking momentum is accelerating across diverse shipments—automotive parts, synthetic resins, used cars, food products, cosmetics, and steel—bound for Northern Europe. Transhipment inquiries from Japan and China are also climbing rapidly, suggesting the Arctic corridor could anchor a broader Northeast Asian multimodal network. PanStar General Manager Kang Sang-in characterized the venture as transformative for South Korea's shipping sector.
