PepsiCo and Gatik have established the largest commercial autonomous freight deployment in operation. This multi-year partnership marks a significant expansion of driverless trucking in consumer goods logistics. Fully autonomous trucks currently operate across Texas, Arizona and Arkansas, servicing approximately 250 retail locations including Walmart and Dollar General stores. The deployment distinguishes itself by operating on both highways and surface streets—a capability that separates it from competing autonomous systems limited to interstate corridors. Gatik eliminated all in-cab safety personnel in June 2025, relying instead on remote supervisors who oversee multiple vehicles simultaneously without performing active remote driving. The operation maintains a 99% on-time delivery record. Medium-duty Isuzu box trucks eliminate the need for trailer coupling, allowing direct dock backing that streamlines final-mile operations. The partnership demonstrates autonomous trucking's viability within complex supply chain networks.
