PepsiCo is broadening its deployment of Gatik autonomous trucks through a multi-year agreement. The expansion covers its North American supply chain, with the food and beverage company currently operating 41 driverless vehicles across Texas, Arizona and Arkansas since beginning its partnership with Gatik in 2022. The expansion targets capacity constraints in staffing-challenged regional networks critical to retail availability. PepsiCo said autonomous trucking on short, repeatable routes enables more consistent operations and reduced service variability. The deployment represents a modernization initiative for the company's transportation network. Gatik emphasized that integrating driverless trucks into PepsiCo's complex supply chain required extensive safety assessments and careful orchestration. The company prioritizes safety as its core operational principle throughout the implementation process.
