A Philadelphia resident received a 94-month federal prison sentence for his role in an organized cargo theft operation targeting interstate shipments across the region. Salahudin Reddy pleaded guilty to conspiracy and theft charges related to a seven-month crime spree spanning January through July 2023. The criminal enterprise systematically identified unattended tractor-trailers and sleeping drivers, using bolt cutters to breach cargo compartments and remove merchandise. Authorities documented thefts exceeding $1.5 million across more than 10 victims. During a concentrated April 2023 period, the crew stole over $1 million in cargo, including frozen snow crab legs, Samsung televisions, and more than $230,000 in newly minted U.S. currency. Prosecutors documented more than a dozen successful thefts as the operation coordinated multiple vehicles and personnel to unload freight before law enforcement intervention. The case demonstrates how organized crews continue employing traditional theft methods in freight corridors.
