Two law enforcement officers filed a civil suit Wednesday challenging a newly established $1.8 billion Department of Justice fund created to compensate Trump allies claiming prosecutorial misconduct.

Former U.S. Capitol Police officer Harry Dunn and active Metropolitan Police Department officer Daniel Hodges argue the "Anti-Weaponization Fund" lacks statutory authority and violates constitutional law. The fund was established as part of a settlement resolving a $10 billion lawsuit filed by President Trump, his sons, and The Trump Organization over the disclosure of tax information by an Internal Revenue Service employee.

The plaintiffs contend the settlement constitutes a "corrupt sham" without proper legal foundation. The suit alleges the fund represents a "taxpayer-funded slush fund to finance the insurrectionists and paramilitary groups that commit violence in his name." Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent are named as defendants alongside Trump. Dunn is currently seeking a Democratic congressional seat representing Maryland.
