Western Sydney International Airport has begun cargo trial operations as it prepares for commercial launch later this month. Qantas operated an Airbus A321 freighter to the facility, with additional test flights planned over the next two weeks. The airport's cargo precinct will handle 220,000 tonnes of freight annually and operate 24 hours daily. Menzies Aviation, dnata and Texel Air will also serve the facility. WSI Chief Executive Simon Hickey said the trials ensure systems, infrastructure and staff are ready for live operations. Qantas Freight's Igor Kwiatkowski stated the hub will boost Sydney's air cargo capacity and support growing e-commerce demand and next-day delivery services. The facility will serve Australia and international markets. The precinct sits near the upgraded Northern Road and logistics hubs in Kemps Creek, with room for future expansion.
