Qantas Freight has received the first of three additional Airbus A321 converted freighters under its agreement with Australia Post. The remaining two aircraft are scheduled to arrive by March 2027. The new freighters carry 28-tonne capacity each, replacing smaller BAE 146-300 aircraft that carry roughly 12 tonnes. Collectively, the three additions will increase dedicated freighter network capacity by approximately 20%. This enables the airline to uplift up to 20,000 Australia Post and StarTrack parcels per flight. The A321Fs will support overnight and next-day deliveries across domestic terminals, including the recently opened 24-hour facility at Western Sydney International Airport. Following this delivery, Qantas operates eight A321 freighters. The aircraft arrive during peak retail periods as Australia Post and Qantas extended their contract for 10 years, committing to move more than 75 million parcels annually.
