The S&P 500 reached an all-time intraday peak of 7,844.52 on Tuesday, eclipsing its August 13 high of 7,830. The benchmark also closed above 7,800 for the first time. The milestone comes amid significant market headwinds including oil price swings, elevated Treasury yields near 5 percent, and the Federal Reserve's first rate increase in over three years during mid-September. Oil prices surged past $100 per barrel in early March following Iran conflict disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz, before retreating below $70 and rebounding above $100 in September. Market observers attribute the resilience to strong corporate earnings and selective investor appetite for technology equities. Seven major tech stocks now represent more than 34 percent of the S&P 500's total market capitalization, driving the latest rally.
