Cargo theft is costing U.S. businesses roughly $35 billion annually, a figure that has climbed 60% year over year. Most incidents are traced to visibility gaps between carrier scans. Samsara addressed the problem Wednesday by introducing its Tracking Label, a paper-thin adhesive Bluetooth device offering near-real-time shipment location data. The label operates for 45 days without lithium or hazardous materials, requires no special disposal and is approved for air, ground and rail transport. The technology leverages Samsara's network of millions of connected devices spanning trucks, trailers and warehouse equipment across 99% of major U.S. hubs. The company also announced Agent Studio, a no-code tool for operations teams to build and deploy AI workflows without IT support. Traditional shipping methods typically provide only two status updates—at pickup and delivery—leaving shippers blind during transit. DCL Logistics, an early adopter, noted the label delivers unprecedented visibility on high-value cargo movements, comparable to real-time tracking consumers expect from ride-sharing services.
