The Port of Savannah has opened the final component of a multiyear initiative to streamline truck movements. The Brampton Road Connector, a four-lane access route with a $126 million price tag, links Gate 3 at the Garden City terminal directly to Interstate 516. The dedicated roadway eliminates the need for port-bound trucks to navigate local streets, railroad crossings and multiple turns via Highway 25 and Brampton Road. The connector was constructed on previously undeveloped land, avoiding impacts to existing infrastructure. Georgia DOT Commissioner Russell McMurry said the project advances freight mobility and safety objectives. The connector represents the final piece of a broader port access strategy that includes the Jimmy Deloach Parkway, an I-95/I-16 interchange upgrade and terminal access improvements. Savannah handles approximately 15,000 truck moves daily.
