The Port of Savannah moved 504,015 TEUs in September, a 3.7% increase year-over-year, marking a new monthly high for the Georgia facility. Strong consumer demand and typhoon-related disruptions at Asian ports pushed peak-season cargo flows into the month, extending the traditional shipping peak.

First-quarter volumes for GPA's fiscal year totaled more than 1.5 million TEUs, up 40,560 TEUs or 2.7% from the prior year. The quarterly result ranked second only to first-quarter fiscal 2023 performance. Appalachian Regional Port volumes grew 13% during the same period.

Infrastructure investments continue advancing GPA's capacity. The $1.6 billion Ocean Terminal renovation is over 60% complete and will significantly boost annual container capacity from the current 200,000 TEUs. The newly opened Brampton Road Connector provides trucking with a third high-volume corridor to Garden City Terminal, allowing trucks to bypass neighborhood streets and railroad crossings.
