Pakistani cargo carrier K2 Airways reported that a Boeing 737-400 freighter carrying five crew members disappeared over the Arabian Sea while en route to Karachi on July 7. The aircraft departed Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates and lost contact at 21:21 Pakistan local time. The nation's civil aviation authority confirmed the crew reported a navigational system issue at 21:18 while in contact with Karachi area control centre. Radar then showed the aircraft rapidly descending with a sudden heading change approximately 155 nautical miles west of Karachi. Search and rescue operations commenced immediately. Flight-tracking data indicated the twinjet was cruising at 35,000 feet roughly one hour and twenty minutes after departure when it deviated course. The aircraft, registered AP-BOI, was a 1999 airframe previously operated by Aeroflot and Garuda Indonesia. K2 Airways, established in 2018, stated it is fully cooperating with Pakistani aviation authorities and investigating agencies.
