The Senate will postpone consideration of a Department of Homeland Security funding package this week, missing President Donald Trump's June 1 deadline. The delay follows a Capitol briefing by Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche regarding a newly announced $1.8 billion anti-weaponization fund that has drawn scrutiny from lawmakers. Senate Majority Leader John Thune said the package had become more complicated than initially planned and signaled the vote would resume after a one-week recess. The funding measure was designed to supplement immigration enforcement resources not included in an earlier DHS appropriations bill. Both chambers of Congress are scheduled for the recess, and the House canceled Friday votes related to the effort.
