Siemens Mobility has agreed to acquire several key business units from Italian rail supplier MERMEC Group, strengthening its global signaling and diagnostics portfolio. The deal encompasses MERMEC's wayside signaling, electrification, telecommunications, diagnostics and analytics operations, excluding its Angelstar investment. The acquired businesses employ approximately 1,700 workers and generated €430 million in revenue during fiscal 2025, serving customers across 70-plus countries. Closing is expected by year-end 2026, subject to customary conditions. The combination will integrate Siemens' urban signaling expertise with MERMEC's mainline railway infrastructure capabilities in Italy, supporting national rail modernization. Customers will gain expanded diagnostic services that merge Siemens' asset intelligence with MERMEC's specialized inspection vehicles and measurement systems. The transaction is expected to create meaningful synergies through cross-selling and portfolio expansion.
