Siemens Mobility agreed May 14 to acquire key businesses from Italian railway supplier MERMEC Group. The deal strengthens its global rail portfolio and expands market presence in Italy. The acquisition covers MERMEC's wayside signaling, electrification, telecommunications, diagnostics and analytics operations, excluding its Angelstar investment. The acquired businesses employ approximately 1,700 workers across operations serving customers in over 70 countries, generating roughly EUR 430 million in revenue during fiscal 2025. Closing is expected by year-end 2026, subject to customary conditions. Financial terms remain undisclosed. The combination will merge Siemens' urban signaling expertise with MERMEC's main-line railway infrastructure strength, supporting Italy's rail modernization efforts. The integration creates a scalable diagnostics platform leveraging Siemens' asset intelligence capabilities alongside MERMEC's diagnostic vehicles and measurement systems. The Ferrosud site in Matera becomes part of Siemens Mobility's innovation ecosystem.
