Dubai-based cargo carrier SolitAir has initiated scheduled freighter operations into the European Union with its debut service to Sofia, Bulgaria. The route connects SolitAir's hub at Dubai World Central to Vasil Levski Sofia Airport, leveraging the airline's ACC3 designation granted by the Belgian Civil Aviation Authority in March. This regulatory approval, combined with existing UAE and EASA certifications, enables SolitAir to operate across EU airspace. Sofia's strategic location at Central and Eastern Europe's crossroads positions it as a regional logistics hub. The city has growing demand for time-critical airfreight in e-commerce, automotive, pharmaceuticals and perishables. The launch expands SolitAir's network, which has grown to 56 routes across 34 countries since October 2024. The airline operates seven 737-800 Boeing converted freighters, each carrying 20 tonnes and certified for dangerous goods, pharmaceuticals and perishables.
