SONAR is hosting a seven-day virtual hackathon from June 15–22, 2026, to develop technology addressing a critical gap in freight software. The Driver App Shortage Hackathon (DASH) invites developers, designers and industry newcomers to create minimum viable products that enhance wellness and retention among the nation's 3.5 million professional truck drivers. Most freight technology currently prioritizes fleet managers, dispatchers and brokers, leaving drivers largely underserved in an $800 billion annual industry. All participants receive complimentary access to SONAR's freight data API, offering the same market intelligence used by major shippers and carriers. The competition remains free to enter globally, with developers retaining full intellectual property rights. A judging panel of freight operators, venture capitalists and FreightWaves executives will evaluate submissions. Finalists gain direct exposure to potential funding partners and scaling opportunities.
