South Carolina authorities recover $1M in stolen commercial equipment

Law enforcement in South Carolina and North Carolina recovered 13 semi-trucks, three trailers and two motor vehicles valued at more than $1 million. The recovery occurred during an ongoing commercial vehicle theft investigation in Florence County.

Detectives arrested two North Carolina men in late July. Andre Horace David Jumpp, 38, and Prince Raymond Leon Betts, 37, each face nine counts of grand larceny under South Carolina law. Authorities allege the men stole nine commercial motor vehicles valued at $876,500. Both defendants also face charges of criminal conspiracy, unlawful entry into enclosed places and malicious injury to property.

Jumpp posted a $68,436 surety bond while Betts secured release on a $137,596 surety bond. The Florence County Sheriff's Office coordinated with Brunswick County and other North Carolina agencies on the recovery. Investigators did not disclose recovery locations or timelines. Additional charges and arrests remain possible as the investigation continues.
