Prediction market traders on Kalshi are pricing minimal odds for SpaceX's human Mars mission before 2030. Current contract valuations reflect just 18% probability of a launch by 2030.

The assessment comes as SpaceX navigates its transition to public markets following a Nasdaq debut that valued the company above $2 trillion. The aerospace firm's IPO prospectus acknowledged significant hurdles to its Mars ambitions, noting unproven technologies and uncertain timelines.

SpaceX founder Elon Musk has staked personal compensation on Mars success, with bonus restricted shares contingent on establishing a colony exceeding 1 million inhabitants. However, the company's regulatory filings provide no definitive target date for achieving that milestone.

Traders have maintained pessimistic Mars odds since March 2024, never pricing the mission probability above 25% within this decade. SpaceX's prospectus emphasized the technical complexity and innovation barriers ahead.
