Nomadic Aviation Group coordinated the rapid repossession of more than 20 Spirit Airlines aircraft following the carrier's May 2 shutdown. The company ferried 23 planes from airports nationwide to storage facilities near Phoenix and Tucson, Arizona within just over a week. Managing partner Skip Navigation and co-founder Bob Allen coordinated the operation with hired pilots, some of whom previously flew for Spirit. The aircraft were repositioned with no passengers aboard to desert locations for storage. Aircraft lessors sought return of their planes after Spirit's collapse, with stored aircraft potentially available for re-leasing or parts salvage. Nomadic managed logistics including fuel procurement, required inspections, and flight crew assignments. The Arizona desert climate minimizes corrosion and deterioration risk during long-term storage, a practice widely used in the aviation industry.
