The Surface Transportation Board unveiled a new Case Status webpage on June 3, providing visibility into all pending proceedings with estimated decision dates whenever feasible and weekly updates. The initiative reflects Chairman Patrick Fuchs' push for greater agency transparency since his early 2025 appointment, marking the first time the STB has systematically published periodic updates on adjudicatory proceedings. The webpage displays current case stages and anticipated timing for next actions, typically updated Wednesdays. Recently filed dockets may not appear immediately, while proceedings in Board Review phase will receive timing estimates when possible. The Case Status page complements recent STB transparency efforts, including a May beta launch of its Open Data Portal enabling users to export carrier data across time periods and create visualizations. The agency also upgraded its website search and service list functions, allowing users to sort records, save custom folders, export service lists and access all filings from single docket pages.
