A supertanker loaded with Iraqi crude attempted to transit the Persian Gulf and test the US naval blockade at the Strait of Hormuz as diplomatic negotiations continue between Washington and Tehran over reopening the critical waterway. Some vessels have successfully exited the region, while others have paused near the blockade line before reversing course.

The attempted passages mark rare transits through the strategic chokepoint, which has remained largely restricted. Major oil traders including Vitol Group have begun offering Iraqi Basrah crude outside the Persian Gulf, suggesting additional shipments may be clearing the region.

Multiple supertankers have attempted similar routes in recent weeks. The transits coincide with high-level diplomatic discussions aimed at ending regional conflict and restoring normal shipping lanes through one of the world's most critical energy corridors.
