Cole Tomas Allen pleaded not guilty Monday to four federal charges stemming from an April 25 incident at the Washington Hilton. Allen faces accusations of attempting to assassinate President Donald Trump, transporting firearms across state lines, discharging a firearm during an act of violence, and assaulting law enforcement. He appeared in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia before Judge Trevor McFadden, restrained at the waist and wrists. Defense attorneys Tezira Abe and Eugene Ohm represent Allen. A status conference is scheduled for June 29, with the judge requesting substantial progress on discovery by that date. Allen's defense team filed a motion last week to disqualify acting Attorney General Todd Blanche and the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia from the prosecution.
