Global ground handler Swissport is strengthening its Asia-Pacific presence through a joint venture with Jakarta-based UNEX Aviation Services, marking the company's entry into Indonesia's air cargo sector. Swissport will also acquire a stake in UNEX Aviation Services as part of the deal. The partnership moves Swissport beyond cargo into broader aviation services, including ramp handling and passenger operations across multiple Indonesian airports. UNEX, established in 2003, operates air cargo warehousing and related services at Jakarta's Soekarno-Hatta International Airport and holds nationwide ground handling licenses. The expansion follows Swissport's recent market entry into Colombia through acquisition of Giraldo Hermanos International. Indonesia represents a key growth opportunity, with IATA projecting it to become the world's fourth-largest aviation market by 2030. The joint venture combines Swissport's global operational expertise with UNEX's local knowledge to serve Indonesia's archipelago.
