TAM Group, a Hong Kong-based general sales and services agent, has launched a dedicated air charter division and appointed Fernando Carballal as group charter director. The move responds to rising demand for flexible air cargo solutions handling time-critical and specialized shipments including perishables, pharmaceuticals, electronics, humanitarian aid, aerospace and automotive cargo.

The division will offer full and part-charter options to complement scheduled airline services. It addresses peak-season capacity constraints and network disruptions. TAM's charter operations expand on a successful pilot program launched in September 2024 from Miami, which completed 30 charter operations across South America including Brazil and Chile.

Carballal, based in Argentina, brings 11 years of air cargo experience spanning airline, freight forwarding and charter brokerage roles. He will oversee global expansion of TAM's charter platform while leveraging the company's established airline relationships and international network.
