An administrative law judge ordered Amazon to recognize the Teamsters at its DCK6 warehouse in San Francisco, citing a precedent that allows unions to gain recognition through majority authorization cards rather than formal elections. Workers at the facility submitted cards in October 2024 representing a majority of Tier 1 associates. Amazon's site manager refused to accept a recognition letter from union representatives, and the company declined to recognize the union or file the required election petition. The judge found Amazon violated labor law by failing to acknowledge the union demand following the majority card submission. The Teamsters pledged to ensure compliance with the ruling. The next phase of organizing efforts at Amazon may prove more challenging.
