Terminal, a Toronto-based data integration company, closed a $20 million Series A funding round led by Battery Ventures. Total capital raised reached $26 million since its 2023 founding. Intact Private Capital and Penske joined as new strategic investors alongside returning backers Y Combinator and Wayfinder Ventures.

The company addresses a critical inefficiency in freight technology: consolidating telematics feeds from over 300 competing providers into standardized formats. Electronic logging devices, dash cameras, OBD-II readers, and GPS trackers generate continuous data streams that each provider formats differently, forcing insurers and fleet operators to build custom integrations individually.

Telematics data proves three times more predictive of underwriting risk than alternative variables, yet fragmentation has limited adoption of behavior-based pricing models. Terminal's unified API eliminates redundant engineering work, enabling insurers managing tens of billions in annual vehicular risk to access normalized data immediately. Marcus Ryu, general partner at Battery Ventures and former Guidewire CEO, joined Terminal's board.
