Toyota is consolidating North American pickup truck production at its San Antonio facility through a $3.6 billion expansion. The project will create 2,000 jobs and double the Texas campus size, with the automaker gradually shifting Tacoma manufacturing from Baja California to join Tundra and Sequoia assembly over approximately four years, with full buildout by 2030. The expansion adds 5 million square feet to the San Antonio complex, raising Toyota's total Texas investment to $8.3 billion since 2003. The completed facility will employ roughly 6,000 workers supported by 23 on-site suppliers. Mexico's Ministry of Economy confirmed the transition will occur gradually through 2030, with approximately 2,800 jobs at the Tijuana-area plant remaining unaffected. Toyota maintains operations at its Guanajuato facility, which employs 2,800 workers, as manufacturers reshape supply chains across North America.
