Trimble is evaluating its transportation and logistics division as multiple external parties express interest, CEO Rob Painter said Monday at the company's Insight 2026 conference in San Diego. Painter declined to provide a timeline for the review's conclusion or confirm whether a sale has become more probable. He characterized the unit as a scarce asset with a distinctive network and technology portfolio, stating the company has a fiduciary obligation to shareholders to consider credible approaches. The company launched the strategic review in August after receiving unsolicited interest from multiple parties, engaging Goldman Sachs as financial adviser. Painter indicated the business continues normal operations and expressed comfort with remaining its owner indefinitely. A spinoff remains possible, though Painter emphasized the review's primary objective is determining what best serves customers, employees and shareholders.
