President Donald Trump postponed a scheduled signing ceremony Thursday for his administration's executive order on artificial intelligence, citing dissatisfaction with certain provisions. Trump told reporters in the Oval Office that he delayed the event because he "didn't like certain aspects of it." The president expressed concern the order could impede U.S. competitiveness in the sector. "The U.S. is ahead of China and the rest of the world on AI and I don't want to do anything that's going to get in the way of that lead," Trump said. He acknowledged artificial intelligence is "causing tremendous good" but worried the executive order "could have been a blocker" to innovation and advancement. No revised timeline for the signing was announced.
