President Donald Trump will visit Peterbilt Motors' Denton, Texas manufacturing facility Thursday to promote his administration's trade and manufacturing policies. The White House plans to spotlight the 25% tariff imposed November 1, 2025, on imported medium- and heavy-duty trucks, along with tariffs on non-USMCA-compliant truck components. A White House official told Fox Business that PACCAR, Peterbilt's parent company, has expanded U.S. truck production and employment following the tariff implementation. The administration claims the Denton operation added more than 1,000 jobs, with over 2,000 positions created across PACCAR's U.S. operations. White House spokeswoman Olivia Wales stated the administration's policies have generated more than 1 million private-sector jobs and trillions in announced investments. The visit underscores broader tensions in the truck manufacturing sector, which faces tariffs, shifting emissions standards, and constrained freight demand impacting equipment purchases.
