President Donald Trump visited PACCAR subsidiary Peterbilt Motors' manufacturing facility in Denton, Texas, Thursday to highlight his administration's 25% tariff on imported medium- and heavy-duty trucks. The tariff was imposed November 1, 2025.

Trump cited the Denton plant's expansion as evidence the tariff policy is working. The facility now produces 200 trucks daily and has added more than 1,000 jobs. PACCAR has added more than 2,000 jobs nationwide since the tariffs took effect, according to administration figures.

Trump claimed heavy-truck manufacturing has increased approximately 31% and truck shipments have reached record levels. The president touted broader manufacturing gains, noting the U.S. added 60,000 manufacturing jobs this year and manufacturing worker wages rose nearly $4,000 since taking office. The 25% tariff applies to imported medium- and heavy-duty trucks and non-USMCA-compliant parts.
