Dukay Trucking of Illinois and S&P Trucking of Idaho have filed for bankruptcy protection as financial pressures mount across the small carrier sector. Dukay filed Chapter 7 liquidation proceedings May 26, reporting just $6,100 in assets against $784,122 in liabilities. The carrier's annual revenue plummeted from over $1 million in 2024 to $220,068 in 2025, hampered by unpaid invoices, fuel contract defaults and loan troubles. Dukay also faces multiple lawsuits, including a personal injury claim filed in Cook County. S&P Trucking filed Chapter 11 reorganization protection April 27, carrying liabilities exceeding $2 million. The Idaho carrier confronts claims from a Peterbilt dealer for $39,911.66, PNC Bank for $200,000 and American Express for $162,198.10. S&P operated 11 power units at the time of filing. Broader bankruptcy trends show 26,000 business filings during the 12-month period ending March, representing an 11% year-over-year increase.
