The Cook County Sheriff's Office recovered two trailers containing more than $1.3 million in stolen cargo at a truck yard in Elk Grove Township. On June 18, investigators received a tip about a trailer carrying approximately $300,000 worth of copper wire reported stolen from Pine Hill, Alabama. Officers located the trailer at the facility on East Higgins Road with its contents intact. The trailer displayed stolen Indiana license plates previously reported missing in Wisconsin. While investigating, the truck yard owner revealed that the same individual had delivered a second trailer the prior week. That trailer, reported stolen from Jacksonville, Florida on June 10, contained roughly $1 million in data center infrastructure equipment. The Sheriff's Police Organized Retail Crime Unit is continuing to identify the driver responsible for delivering both trailers and determine if additional individuals were involved.
