U.S. forces conducted defensive strikes in southern Iran on Tuesday targeting missile launch sites and vessels attempting to lay mines, according to Central Command. The operation was designed to protect American troops from Iranian threats while maintaining restraint during an ongoing ceasefire, CENTCOM said.
President Trump continues negotiations toward a regional peace settlement, stating Monday that talks are progressing well. Under the proposed framework, Iran's enriched uranium stockpile would be transferred to the United States for destruction. The uranium could be destroyed domestically or at another approved location.
Trump has also pressed Arab nations to join the Abraham Accords normalizing relations with Israel. Pakistan rejected the linkage, with officials stating the issues cannot be connected. Tehran has not indicated acceptance of uranium disposal terms.
