The U.S. government has permanently dropped all tax claims against President Trump, his sons and the Trump Organization. The settlement resolves a $10 billion lawsuit filed by Trump over the disclosure of his tax returns. Under the settlement terms, the government is "forever barred and precluded" from examining or prosecuting Trump's current tax matters, according to a document posted by the Justice Department. The agreement extends protection to Trump's family members, affiliates and associated entities. Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche signed the settlement addendum, which was posted to the DOJ website following the original settlement announcement Monday. The Treasury Department declined to comment on the agreement.
