The United States is imposing tariffs on countries it claims aren't doing enough to stop production of export goods by forced labor. A Section 301 report by the U.S. Trade Representative found 60 economies that failed to enforce a ban on imported goods produced with forced labor. U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer called the situation unacceptable, stating American workers face unfair competition on the global stage. The tariff structure includes 10% additional duties on nations that have implemented some measures against forced labor imports, and 12.5% on those with minimal compliance. Greer emphasized that trading partners must strengthen enforcement to prevent labor exploitation from becoming entrenched in global commerce.
