The United Arab Emirates will leave OPEC and OPEC+, a decision driven by national economic interests rather than diplomatic tensions, Energy Minister Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei said Saturday. The country's exit follows a comprehensive review of production policy and future capabilities. Mazrouei emphasized the UAE's commitment to global energy market stability through the transition. The decision reflects a sovereign strategic choice aligned with the nation's long-term economic vision and energy sector evolution, he stressed. It represents no political divisions with partner nations. The Emirates had been one of OPEC's most influential members alongside Saudi Arabia, holding significant spare production capacity to influence global crude prices and respond to supply disruptions.
