Sharjah Ports and Oman Customs have launched an integrated trade corridor linking the UAE with three Omani gateways: Sohar as the primary hub, plus Duqm and Salalah. The agreement emphasizes expedited customs clearance, competitive overland freight rates, and faster cargo processing times across the intra-regional framework. The initiative builds on a similar arrangement between Dubai and Oman Customs established in March, which saw customs declarations surge from 12,000 to approximately 100,000 between March and April. Under that green corridor program, shipments routed through Omani ports move overland to Dubai via the Hatta border crossing. Goods undergo Omani customs clearance before container seals are affixed for transit. The expansion underscores Oman's growing strategic importance in Persian Gulf logistics networks as authorities pursue alternatives to traditional port-dependent connectivity.
