UPS will introduce elevated holiday surcharges beginning Sept. 27 as carriers prepare for seasonal volume increases. The shipper expects U.S. parcel volume to climb 24% between Q3 and Q4, creating pressure on network capacity during year-end peak demand. The rate adjustments help carriers manage holiday demand while maintaining service standards. USPS separately announced a 6% rate increase for its peak season offerings, with price changes taking effect Oct. 4 across Ground Advantage, Priority Mail and select package services. Both carriers' moves reflect industry-wide efforts to offset peak season operational costs. Shippers should anticipate higher expenses for holiday shipments and plan accordingly.
