U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer said Tuesday that negotiations between President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping have yielded meaningful results on rebalancing bilateral commerce. Greer told Bloomberg that both nations remain willing to continue their trade truce despite lingering tariff concerns. The talks, conducted in Beijing, produced commitments from China on agricultural purchases valued in the billions of dollars. The two sides also made progress on rare earth supplies and discussed Chinese purchases of Iranian oil. Greer acknowledged that tariffs and supply chain complications persist as sticking points. He expressed confidence that momentum from the summit will carry forward into subsequent negotiations, though he cautioned that sustained cooperation remains necessary to cement gains.
