The U.S. Central Command has redirected approximately 100 commercial vessels during its six-week blockade of Iran's ports. The Strait of Hormuz remains effectively closed to commercial shipping.
Commercial shipping activity in the waterway has plummeted. Foreign-flagged vessels are largely absent from the region. Iranian-linked ships now dominate the minimal traffic moving through the chokepoint.
Tanker congestion is building at Iran's Kharg Island export terminal, where 23 vessels have gathered. This represents the largest concentration since the blockade commenced and signals growing pressure on Iran's crude exports.
The blockade is reshaping global energy flows. Major importers including China are shifting procurement patterns away from Middle Eastern suppliers due to the disruption.
