The US Treasury Department has sanctioned six vessels operated by Singapore-based SeaLead, constraining the carrier's operational capacity. The action targets the company and its subsidiaries over allegations the vessels support Houthi-linked interests. The designation comes months after the US Department of Justice filed a separate lawsuit against SeaLead, claiming it provided shipping services connected to Iranian official Ali Shamkhani and seeking to seize approximately $2.4 million tied to an illicit Iranian oil network. The six sanctioned vessels represent some 10,500 teu of capacity. Treasury blocked all US-based property and interests owned by SeaLead, requiring entities to report holdings to the Office of Foreign Assets Control. The sanctions mark SeaLead's first direct designation by US authorities, compounding operational difficulties for the already-struggling carrier.
