Western Sydney International Airport will begin cargo operations next month with Qantas Freight deploying its first freighter on July 27. The new 24-hour cargo precinct will open in July following trial flights earlier in the month to validate operations.

Qantas expects to move more than 850 tonnes of freight weekly through its new terminal, supporting e-commerce and next-day delivery demand. The facility can simultaneously service eight widebody aircraft and will handle at least 220,000 tonnes annually at full capacity.

Handler dnata committed A$32 million to a dedicated cargo facility at the precinct in April. WSI's integrated precinct offers direct Northern Road access and proximity to logistics hubs in Kemps Creek and surrounding industrial zones. The airport's major construction, including its 3.7-kilometer runway and terminal, completed in June 2025. Commercial passenger flights are scheduled to begin October 25.
